I'm giving this book 5 stars, but it's more of a 4.5 stars. I think it's a great book, but it's not as good as The Fault in Our Stars (which deserved 1000 stars). Still, it's vastly superior to most YA out there, so I guess 5 stars is fair. I did enjoy it quite a lot, but it wasn't as funny, or as profound, or as sad as TFiOS.
I liked Lara a lot more than Alaska, let me tell you. But boys will be boys and as always choose the wrong girl for them. Story of my life.
Also, there is a prank scene that almost made me pee in my pants, and Lara was the key to my laughing. I really did like "thees" (book inside joke) girl. Plus, the blow job scene had me laughing so hard with tears in my eyes, which woke my grandma's nurse and the cat.
Go forth, my friends, and read this book. It's worth your time.
